Gray Skies

Gray Sky One

Gray Skies

Gray skies still show
the scattered light of
a steadily shining star
we happen to call Sol
or Sun or Helios whose
rays remain present
even during the night,
then reflected by the
Moon or Venus or Mars.
We see this light return
to our eyes from the
polished faces of cars
or any surface we can
see as almost all light
on Earth had its start in
the core of the bright
white Sun, despite being—
among a galaxy of stars—
only our nearest one.
